Bond Hearings

Some people who have been detained in immigration detention facilities may be eligible for release on bond. We assist them and their families in making bond requests, either to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or to an immigration judge, depending on the stage of the proceedings. Successfully obtaining release on bond involves demonstrating the person’s family ties, financial status, immigration history, and criminal record or lack thereof to the government or to the judge.

If he or she is released on bond, a family member or close associate of the detainee, the obligor, will transfer money to the government by cashier’s check. The money will then be returned after the respondent attends and completes the immigration proceedings.
